The License Is Not a Rolling 24-Hour Pass
The license is valid for the calendar day or consecutive calendar days selected during purchase. Do not calculate the expiration time by adding 24 hours to the checkout time.
Correct interpretation
You select Saturday, July 25. The license covers the July 25 date displayed on the issued license.
Incorrect interpretation
You buy at 4 p.m. Saturday and assume the license remains valid until 4 p.m. Sunday.
Fishing Across Midnight
A trip that continues past midnight enters another calendar date. Buy both dates when you expect to continue fishing after midnight.

One red drum tag and one spotted seatrout tag are available at no additional charge with the One-Day All-Water License, subject to TPWD’s limit of one per customer.
Do not assume the tag is automatic and ready: select the appropriate tag during the transaction and prepare the correct paper or digital tagging method before retaining a fish that requires it.
Printed License Tagging
- Remove the entire applicable tag from the printed license.
- Complete every information field on the front of the tag.
- Cut out the correct day and month.
- Attach the tag with string or wire to the narrowest part of the tail immediately ahead of the tail fin.
Digital License Tagging
Digital license holders execute eligible tags in the Texas Hunt & Fish app. For an oversized red drum or spotted seatrout, the completed digital harvest report is the required digital record; TPWD does not require a separate physical document to be attached to the fish.

Texas State Park Boundary Check
The park exemption applies on state park property or in water completely enclosed by a state park. It does not automatically extend to nearby public shoreline, a neighboring marina or open water outside the park boundary.
Pier, dock and jetty rule: on man-made structures inside Texas state parks, TPWD allows pole-and-line fishing and limits each person to two poles.
