Buy, Renew or Print: Use the Correct Route
Buy for the First Time
Choose residency, Sport or Conservation and duration. Create a new card only when the customer does not already have an Outdoors Card.
Renew an Existing Card or Licence
Log into the existing account, check both expiry dates and add the card renewal before the licence when required.
Print or Email Proof
Open My Active Licences and generate the latest Licence Summary. It can be printed or emailed repeatedly.

Standard catch limits
Choose the C$26.57 one-year Sport Fishing Licence before HST. Add or renew the C$8.57 Outdoors Card when required.
Lower harvest limits are acceptable
Consider the C$15.07 one-year Conservation Fishing Licence. Read the zone’s Conservation limits before choosing it.
Lives in another province or territory
Use the Canadian-resident column: C$55.81 Sport or C$33.43 Conservation for one year before HST.
Fishing for one day
Choose the C$24.86 one-day Sport licence. The official fee table says an Outdoors Card is not required with this licence.
Fishing for up to eight days
Compare the C$54.38 eight-day Sport and C$31.52 eight-day Conservation products before HST.
No password for the current website
Create an online account using Create with an Existing Outdoors Card. Do not buy a second card merely because online access has not been set up.
Fishing licence cannot be selected
Add the Outdoors Card renewal first. Ontario’s official guide lists an expired card as one reason the product Select button can remain grey.
Licence is already active
Do not buy again. Open My Active Licences and use Print Licence Summary or Email Licence Summary.

The card and fishing product are separate account items. Before renewing, open My Active Licences and check the displayed expiry of each item rather than assuming they end together.
Sport vs Conservation Fishing Licence
Standard legal limits
Choose Sport when the angler wants the standard catch and possession limit available for the species and Fisheries Management Zone.
Lower price and lower limits
Choose Conservation when smaller harvest limits are acceptable. The lower licence price does not make every species catch-and-release only.
- Check the exact Sport and Conservation limit for each target species.
- Check both the Fisheries Management Zone and named-waterbody exceptions.
- Count fish already stored at camp, home or in a freezer when possession rules require it.
- Do not apply a Sport limit while holding only Conservation privileges.
- Confirm whether size, slot, season or sanctuary rules prohibit harvest entirely.

Before Buying for a Youth or Senior
Ontario’s fishing rules include age-based situations for Ontario and Canadian residents. Do not automatically purchase a licence for a child or older adult without first checking the current age, identification and catch-limit provisions in the regulations summary.
Visitor warning: non-Canadian youth rules can differ from Ontario and Canadian resident rules. Verify whether the youth needs an individual licence or will fish under an accompanying adult’s privileges and limits.
Residency uncertainty: contact Ontario support before paying when a recent move, temporary work placement, study, immigration status or multiple residences makes the category unclear.
One-Day, Eight-Day and Annual Licence Decisions
Do Not Compare Only the Licence Price
- Add the Outdoors Card when the selected product requires one.
- Add HST to the displayed official fees.

How to Renew Without Creating a Duplicate Outdoors Card
- Sign into the existing Hunt and Fish Ontario account.
- Open My Active Licences.
- Check the Outdoors Card and fishing-product expiry dates separately.
- Update the mailing address, email or password under My Account when necessary.
- Add an Outdoors Card renewal when the current card is expired or insufficient for the selected term.
- Add the correct Sport or Conservation licence.
- Review the residency, duration and final taxed amount.
- Complete payment and generate a new Licence Summary.
Do not create a new card because a password is missing. Use Forgot Password, create an online account with the existing card or call support to recover the existing record.

Unlimited summary reprints: Ontario’s official guide states that the Licence Summary and receipt can be printed as many times as needed. The one-print limitation discussed in the guide applies to certain hunting tags.

Create the Online Account Without Buying Another Card
Someone may already have an Outdoors Card even though they have never created a login for the current online service.
- Visit Hunt and Fish Ontario.
- Accept the privacy notification.
- Select “Don’t have an account? Create one.”
- Choose “Create with an Existing Outdoors Card” when a card already exists.
- Choose the new-card route only when no existing card should be attached.
- Enter the postal or ZIP code currently stored on the old customer record.
- Give each person a separate, unique email address.
- Call support when the postal code or old customer details cannot be matched.
Family account problem: Ontario’s official account guide says each person must use a unique email address. One shared family email can prevent another customer’s account from being created.
